UPLOADING EVIDENCE TO EVIDENCE.COM

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this informational bulletin is to ensure all personnel assigned to the Custody Services Division properly upload video, photo, and/or audio evidence from the County-issued Body Worn Camera (BWC) phone and Axon application into evidence.com.

PROCEDURES

The County-issued BWC phone and Axon application are designed to capture evidence and upload it directly to evidence.com. This workflow preserves the chain of custody, ensures proper metadata retention, and keeps the evidence in a system designed for legal discoverability. Personnel shall not deviate from this procedure unless specifically instructed to by BWC Unit personnel.

All evidence should be captured via the Axon application and uploaded to evidence.com. If evidence was captured via the native camera or recording application on the BWC phone, the file shall be uploaded to evidence.com.

Additionally, evidence shall not be downloaded from the BWC phone or a computer for administrative or criminal investigations, unless directed to do so by the Department’s Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau, Internal Affair’s Bureau, Homicide Bureau, or the BWC Unit.
