PURPOSE:

The purpose of this station order is to establish a new standard operating order with Cerritos Station Explorers

SCOPE OF ORDER:

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Explorer program affords teenagers and young adults the opportunity to serve their community in a positive way and receive a first-hand look into law enforcement.  

As leaders and mentors within the Department, it is incumbent upon all Department members to provide a tolerant, educational and safe environment for our explorers which is conducive to learning.  The goal being the successful character development of our Explorers and the opportunity of a career in law enforcement.

ORDER:

All station explorers will be supervised by the program sergeant and program advisor (deputy).  The request for a ride along shall be submitted to the program coordinator and approved by the sergeant with the concurrence of the watch commander of the desired shift.  As a general rule, Explorers are to be assigned with deputies of the same gender.
