CHP VEHICLE TYPE CODES
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has requested all allied police agencies utilize CHP vehicle type codes when documenting crashes on Traffic Crash Reports (CHP 555) or any CHP approved traffic report form. On the CHP 555, the “Vehicle Type” box is located on the first page as shown below. The newest version of this form no longer contains “For CHP Use Only” in this box.
