21-09 - New Transient Related Radio Code 925T

NEW TRANSIENT RELATED RADIO CODE

925T

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Newsletter is to ensure personnel are properly utilizing transient and homeless related radio and statistical codes.

BACKGROUND

The Department has created the following radio code:

  • 925T – Suspicious Circumstances, Transient Related.

The use of this radio code does not preclude the use of the following homeless/transient related statistical codes:

  • 413 – Juvenile Transient, Out of State;
  • 898 – Contact Made:  Indication(s) of Homelessness; and
  • 899 – Arrest:  Person(s) with indication(s) of Homelessness.

The use of these codes will ensure accurate tracking of transient/homeless calls including when the disturbing party may be gone prior to a deputy’s arrival.

Merely being transient or homeless is not criminal.  Department personnel shall utilize these radio codes/statistical codes for calls for service where the homeless or transient nature of the disturbing party or suspect is merely a descriptor, not an indicator of criminal activity.
