21-08 - Axon Body 3 "Wing Clip" Mount

AXON BODY 3 “WING CLIP” MOUNT

PURPOSE

The purpose of this newsletter is to provide guidance to Department personnel regarding the proper placement method of the wing clip mount.  Also, how and when to make notifications regarding Body Worn Camera (BWC) mount failures.

PROCEDURE

Place the mount on the outer most layer of your clothingCenter the mount on the sternum, no more than five inches to the right or left of center.  The bottom of the camera should be no lower than four inches above the belt line.  Refer to MPP 3-06/200.05.

[REDACTED TEXT] has been monitoring reported failures of the wing clip mount.  These failures are occurring during normal and dynamic operations when minimal downward pressure is applied to the top of the BWC.  This results in the mount separating from itself causing the BWC to fall off the uniform.

It is imperative supervisors ensure all personnel assigned a BWC are wearing them properly to maintain BWC retention at its highest level.  If you experience a mount failure, please report it to the [REDACTED TEXT]

If you require further information, contact Field Operations Support Services at  (323) 890-5411 or foss@lasd.org.
