MOBILE RANGE SAFETY

The purpose of this Newsletter is to provide rules for maintaining safety and preventing injury to personnel when using the mobile shooting range.

In order to enhance the safety of personnel utilizing the mobile shooting range, the following safety rules have been established to minimize the risk of injury:

  • The mobile shooting range will only be operated by personnel who have been designated by the Weapons Training Unit as Mobile Range Operators who have successfully completed the Mobile Range Operations Procedures course.

  • The Mobile Range Operator shall follow all operating procedures and safety protocols outlined by the Weapons Training Unit.

  • No personnel shall engage in live fire exercises forward of the shooting line, usually designated by shooting benches or individual partitions in each lane inside the mobile shooting range.

  • Safety devices shall not be disabled or tampered with.

  • All personnel shall adhere to the firearm safety regulations as posted by the Weapons Training Staff in the mobile shooting range.

  • Follow any additional instructions provided by the Range Operator.

As a reminder, the Four Basic Firearms Safety Rules are:

  • Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.

  • Never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to shoot or destroy.

  • Keep your finger off the trigger until you have made the conscious decision to fire.

  • Be aware of your target, backstop, and what is beyond.

Any violations of these safety rules shall immediately be reported to the Watch Commander.
