If service of the plaintiff’s claim on the defendant is not timely completed within the required number of days before the hearing date, the court may postpone the hearing. Unless provision has been made to ensure that the plaintiff will receive timely notice of the service and the certificate of service is filed with the court in time for the hearing, service should not be attempted under this provision.
