Notify station/unit detectives immediately.

Do not dispatch a patrol car or uniformed deputies unless ordered to do so by station/unit detectives.

If any questions exist regarding an extortion or kidnapping for the purpose of extortion, or if there is credible information that the victim is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death, immediately contact the Major Crimes Bureau for procedures or Department resources.

Follow instructions found at the beginning of this section.  Watch sergeant is to immediately notify Major Crimes Bureau for evaluation and instruction.  The safety of the victim is the primary concern.  Station/unit detectives are to handle the investigation pending arrival of Major Crimes Bureau personnel and write appropriate report covering their activity.
