Crimes or incidents routinely assigned to station detectives or other government agencies which have particular factors existing at the time which dictate that the interests of the Department would best be served by assignment to the Detective Division shall be so assigned.
Some factors which should be considered include the need for a specialist, for deployment of manpower over extended periods, for multiple geographical/jurisdictional travel, involvement of public officials as a suspect or victim or other exigent circumstances.
Prior to assignment or reassignment of an exceptional case, the appropriate captains or higher ranking officers shall be consulted.
